The Montgomery Group is a boutique executive search firm I founded in 2014.

Although I initially planned to expand the firm with a small group of experienced professionals, such as myself, I realized that my “superpower” of relationship building was not scalable. As a result, even though the firm’s name—which offers a nod to my years spent in San Francisco—suggests The Montgomery Group is composed of various professionals, you will actually be served by me exclusively. We do not delegate or outsource to others who do not know your business. Instead, you’ll get me fully focused on every stage and detail of your search as I draw on my relationships and experience as a recruiter as well as a marketing professional.

Background


I spent the first half of my career working in client-partner leadership roles with “digital” agencies like Razorfish and Sapient, working on large and complex marketing and digital transformation engagements. I regularly needed to make specialized hires for the teams I led–the dreaded “purple squirrel.” Through working with recruiting partners to source and qualify candidates, I fell in love with recruiting.

I subsequently cut my teeth in executive search at Korn Ferry, rising to Senior Partner. Still, I concluded that there had to be a more personal and client-focused approach to executive search, so I launched The Montgomery Group.


  1. Go beyond the brief and CV to probe for deeper wants and needs

  2. Focus on building and maintaining relationships to establish a connection between my clients and candidates

  3. Iterate and be transparent. My process is iterative (for the client) and transparent to all. As a search progresses, learnings are applied and shared with all parties to ensure no surprises.

  4. A search is deemed successful well after the candidate’s start date when we collectively can observe their contributions and impact

  5. Stay intensely personal. While other boutique search firms typically expand to include analysts, etc., I opted for a different approach–I purposefully remain a single-person operation, so your search won’t be delegated to a junior person less attuned to what makes for identifying top-notch talent and matching that talent to specific roles.

Based in Atlanta, The Montgomery Group conducts nationwide–and global–executive searches, with particular emphasis on major business hubs, such as NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, etc.
